covid-19 update

the effect on our project wild gambia trips

latest update

We are ecstatic to announce that we are officially resuming our conservation expeditions and wildlife tours with our first beginning the first week of July 2021! We are now FULLY BOOKED for our first expedition, but fear not... we have others going ahead later in the year which we still have some spaces available on! Find out more about these trips and dates on our website or contact us for more information at

We cannot wait to get back to the smiling coast and to help the communities and wildlife whilst enjoying the sheer beauty and vibrancy this amazing country has to offer.

We are of course still monitoring and continuing to follow the latest government and medical advice concerning the situation and we will keep you posted about all decisions made however we are extremely positive about our given situation and that it will only improve from here.

Again, thank you so much to every individual for their ongoing support and patience through these difficult times. We have worked so hard to ensure that our trips resume this year and the correct measures are in place to do so. In light of how this situation has proved to be a learning curve in certain ways, we are eager to get back to when it was just as simple as agreeing to a date, booking our flights and landing in the smiling coast before beginning the trip and research of a lifetime!

All the best,

Team Project Wild Gambia.

Project Wild Gambia are thrilled to announce that we will be resuming our tours and expeditions from June 2021 however we will continue to follow the latest government and medical advice concerning the situation. It is of paramount importance that we are constantly reviewing the situation to maintain the health, safety and wellbeing of the vulnerable communities that we work within and the wildlife it offers. Please note that anybody volunteering with us from June 2021 onwards is of course still entitled to a full refund of their deposit if circumstances do change.

As we are not a travel agent, and we do not book your flights for you, we strongly recommend that you look into the flight provider and any travel insurance policies to see what they currently advise and offer. Although, we have found that the majority of airlines are offering a full refund or 12 months credit.

Your support throughout 2020 has not gone unnoticed, and we thank our volunteers who have been so flexible to reschedule their booked tours and expeditions for later given dates. Those who have donated to support our ongoing projects, shared or liked a post or sent us a kind message, it has truly kept our Project Wild Gambia teams spirits alive.

We have worked for two decades with one mission, researching and conserving some of the rarest wildlife and supporting The Gambia’s eco-tourism, which has suffered greatly and affected so many individuals. And, in 2021 we will continue to do that again, with the help of you and your sheer passion for wildlife conservation.

All the best,

Team Project Wild Gambia.

These are extremely unfortunate and challenging circumstances and the safety of our staff, volunteers, and Gambian locals are of paramount importance to Project Wild Gambia. Therefore, due to the continued outbreak of COVID-19, we are currently unable to continue trips to The Gambia, and all booked tours throughout 2020 have unfortunately now been cancelled and rearranged for a later date. We hope to begin trips to the smiling coast of Africa again in 2021 (if it is deemed safe to do so). Despite these unprecedented times, our Gambian staff has received continued financial support.

All the best,

Team Project Wild Gambia.
