covid-19 update

the effect on our project wild gambia trips

latest update

We are thrilled to announce that our placement opportunities will be starting from September 2021, whilst our other trips will resume from November 2021!

With regards to current COVID restrictions, The Gambia has been classed as the lowest risk country by the US and we expect the UK to follow shortly. We have an effective anti-COVID policy and all of our Gambian staff have been fully vaccinated.

We cannot wait to get back to the smiling coast and to help the communities and wildlife whilst enjoying the sheer beauty and vibrancy this amazing country has to offer.

We are of course still monitoring and continuing to follow the latest government and medical advice concerning the pandemic and we will keep you posted about all decisions made. However, we are extremely positive about our given situation and that it will only improve from here. Despite these unprecedented times, our Gambian staff have received continued financial support through the help of generous donations. We have also maintained as much of our vital conservation as possible (e.g. remotely organising for the camera-trapping of forests). Our dedicated UK team each made the decision to work without a wage during this difficult period to ensure that Project Wild Gambia could continue to do what it has always set out to do – conserve and protect The Gambia’s most threatened wildlife and to improve the livelihoods of the local people.

We want to thank every individual for their ongoing support within the past year and a half (from a simple like or share on Facebook to a generous donation). Our entire team has worked so hard to ensure that our placement opportunities, expeditions, field courses and tours begin again this year. We hope to see you in the smiling coast for a trip of a lifetime soon!

All the best,

Team Project Wild Gambia
